Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness

Quote from Joseph Pilates book Return to Life through Contrology, published in 1945;

"Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.”

These words sum up the current catch phrase FUNCTIONAL TRAINING.

What you are training for, dictates what type of functional training you need. At Pilates Lifestyle and Wellbeing a variety of classes are offered ensuring all the classes are balanced to achieve strength, flexibility and most importantly control within the required functional need.

To gain this Control the mind must be fully engaged with each movement the body is creating and how that movement is being created.

Control is not gained if the participant is going through the motions of the exercise without concentrated knowledge and effort.

When mindful concentration and awareness of how the body is functioning within an exercise class is achieved, balanced posture without tension, allowing freedom and ease of movement within our daily tasks naturally occurs, whether we are a sedentary worker, trades person or elite athlete.

Our classes are designed to help our clients attain and maintain this level of concentration to reach their full potential of functional physical fitness, rewarding them with happiness.
